Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Theological School

Trinity College Theological School, founded in 1877, is an Anglican (Episcopal) Theological School that represents the diversity and inclusive character of Anglican tradition, committed to the proclamation of the gospel, the celebration of the sacraments, the life of the church, and the dynamic character of historic Christianity.

Trinity College Theological School wishes to appoint a postdoctoral research fellow to undertake a sustained research project in the broad field of theology, or an associated discipline.

The purpose of this role is to increase the Theological School’s focus on research and to further its research output in alliance with the University of Divinity of which it is a constituent College.

The incumbent must have completed a doctorate in theology in the last five years and be able to demonstrate capacity for high-level research, as well as possessing good organisational skills. She or he will be expected to work towards publication of at least two peer-reviewed articles per year and make considerable progress towards the production of a scholarly monograph. A limited amount of lecturing may be negotiated. The School has identified the following three areas as its research priorities and the candidate’s research projects would need to fall within its scope:

  • Biblical Studies
  • Christian Theology
  • Anglican Identity and Mission

The position is full-time and the successful candidate will be given a desk in the research room and is expected to contribute to the intellectual, liturgical, and community life of the Theological School and Trinity College more largely.

Salary Range: FTE base salary of $81,170 plus 10% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.

Contract Term: Full-time, three-year appointment commencing 3 February 2020.
