About the Role

Foundation Studies is a pre-university course within the Pathways School at Trinity College that qualifies overseas students for entry to the University of Melbourne and other universities.

This teaching position in the Mathematics department in the Trinity College Foundation Studies program, it aims to develop mathematical knowledge and skills in areas including pre-calculus, calculus, matrices, statistics and probability, as preparation for a wide variety of university courses. In this subject, students have one lecture and one tutorial per week. These are 90 minutes in duration, and approximately 15 students are in each tutorial. The first language of most students is not English, and there is an emphasis on improving communication of mathematics in English. Much of the work in this role will be related to the delivery of the curriculum in the form of tutorials, but there may be opportunities to deliver lectures as well.

Skills & Experience

To be considered for this casual role, you must have a relevant tertiary level qualification and demonstrated work experience in teaching students Math, preferably at VCE level, a Foundation Studies Program or University Level.

To succeed in this role, you must have demonstrated experience in face-to-face course delivery and should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members. 

Employment Type:  This is a part-time fixed term position, commencing 24 April 2023 until 20 October 2023. Fraction can be varied from 0.6 to 1.0 FTE and is always subject to student enrolments.

Salary: Level B3 – C1 FTE $81,879 – $89,823 (dependent on qualifications and experience) plus 10.5% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading
