Lecturer - Mathematics 1


Trinity College Foundation Studies is an award-winning one-year course that prepares around 2,000 overseas students for entry into the University of Melbourne and other leading Australian Universities. The program equips them with the intellectual, linguistic and cultural skills necessary for success at university.

The Mathematics 1 subject aims to develop mathematical knowledge and skills in areas including pre-calculus, calculus, matrices, statistics and probability, as preparation for a wide variety of university courses. In the subject, students have one lecture and one tutorial per week.  These are 90 minutes in duration, with approximately 15 students in each tutorial. 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified people to teach Mathematics 1 in the 2019 August Extended Program. Applicants must have a relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 2 years full-time teaching experience students at Foundation Studies, VCE or University level.

This role is responsible for the delivery of the (approximately Year 11) curriculum in the form of tutorials, but there may also be opportunities to deliver lectures as well. Additionally, there is marking of student examinations and other forms of assessment, availability to students for consultation, report writing, mentoring, staff meetings and other duties relating to the subject and the broader program. 

Successful candidates will be enthusiastic, flexible, have clear expository skills and an ability to develop rapport with overseas students in a program that emphasises independent learning.

Salary Range: Level B2 – C1 FTE $70,517 - $81,983 plus 10% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading.
